Fort Collins is an incredibly dog-friendly city. It is not uncommon to see dogs dining on outdoor patios with their owners in Old Town or to run into dozens of furry friends when hiking the miles and miles of trails we have in the city. This has led to an increase of apartments that allow dogs, and Stone Creek Apartment Homes is proud to be one of them!
While we are a dog-friendly apartment, we do have a few breed restrictions and dogs must be approved, so be sure to get in touch with our front office if you have any questions about keeping a dog while you’re living at Stone Creek.
In order to ensure your pups are getting enough exercise, we’ve compiled a list of some of the top dog parks in the area, as well as a few activities for you and your furry friend to enjoy together!
Dog Parks Near Your Fort Collins Apartments
Spring Canyon Dog Park
Touted as the best dog park in Fort Collins, this dog park offers three acres of fenced-in, off-leash play area for dogs to interact and socialize. It also features a pond that is open for pups to swim in during the summer as well as a separate area for shy or small dogs. You can find this dog park by heading to the far west end of Horsetooth Road at the Spring Canyon Park.
Twin Silo Dog Park
The Fort’s newest dog park is located at Twin Silo park at the intersection of Ketcher Road and Lady Moon Drive. This new park is a hit with the kids, as it contains the tallest slide in Fort Collins and a playground unlike any other. However, the furbabies love it too. The large dog park features logs for agile puppies to climb on, as well as picnic tables for owners to take a break. Like the Spring Canyon dog park, this park has a separate section for small dogs.
Fossil Creek Dog Park
The Fossil Creek dog park features a mulch ground, whereas the above parks have dirt or sand, which owners seem to have mixed feelings about so be sure to choose the park that is best for your dog. This dog park is located off of Lemay Avenue south of Harmony.
Soft Gold Dog Park
This dog park is located on the north end of town near Shields Street and Willox Lane. Though smaller than the other parks, you are more likely to find the ground here covered with grass, making it very popular among dog owners in the area.
Doggy Day Trips
Of course, not every day is a day at the park for a dog! Sometimes you want to take your puppy on an adventure, and we’ve got a few ideas for spending some fun in the sun with your dog this summer.
Walk Around The Apartment Complex
This may sound boring, but our pet-friendly apartments feature a sprawling green space, walking trails, and beautiful ponds where you and your pup can enjoy the view.
Horsetooth Falls Trail
While you can see Horsetooth Rock from town, Horsetooth Falls makes a popular attraction for dog owners as the terrain is a little more pup-friendly, though still a hike, nonetheless. When you reach the end of this nearly 2.5 mile hike, you will see one of the hidden gems of the mountain: a beautiful waterfall and sparkling pond.
Fossil Creek Trail
This 5-mile paved trail is a great place for runners to take their dogs for a nice jog. The trail is flanked by beautiful natural landscape, park area, and natural water features.
Dine With Your Dog In Old Town
Like we mentioned earlier, Old Town is incredibly dog-friendly and you’ll likely meet dozens of other doggy parents when you dine al fresco on one of the many outdoor patios. Some favorite doggy dining places include Coopersmith’s Pub & Brewery, The Rainbow Restaurant, and Snooze A.M. Eatery
