Fort Collins is one of the best cities in Colorado for good food. You can’t throw a stone here without hitting a food truck or local restaurant (though, we do not recommend throwing stones at places trying to serve up some delicious grub). Many new residents at Stone Creek Apartment Homes wonder what type of places there are to eat near our apartment complex. Even though we are located just a couple miles from Old Town, where some of the best eateries are, we know you don’t always want to fight for a parking spot when you simply want a quick bite to eat on a weekday, so today we are offering some closer options.
Your best bet for places to eat near Stone Creek apartments is to head about two minutes north down Shields Street to Campus West, a highly popular area across the street from Moby Arena at Colorado State University. If you are a student, you are likely already familiar with this area. However, newer Fort Collins residents will be pleased with the selection of restaurants and dining options within minutes of their apartment. We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite spots to grab a bite near Stone Creek.
Mama Roni’s Pizza: Okay, we’re throwing this one in here even though it’s not part of Campus West, but it is only a two-minute drive in the other direction (head south on Shields from Stone Creek apartments). Mama Roni’s is one of the best places to grab a pizza in town. They use fresh ingredients, real mozzarella, and make their dough from scratch every day. Their storefront may not look like much, but don’t judge this book by its cover. For a true Colorado experience, be sure to add cream cheese to your pizza. And don’t forget the Cinnaronis, the best cinnamon sticks you might ever have.
The Waltzing Kangaroo: Alright, back to Campus West eateries. The Waltzing Kangaroo offers handcrafted Australian food, and we’re not talking about shrimp on the bah-bie, either. They serve freshly made meat pies. If you’re wondering about the authenticity of this place, don’t. Originally a bakery on Australia’s New South Wales coast, the owners wanted to bring a little taste of Australian cuisine to America, and thankfully for us, settled on Fort Collins.
Fuzzy’s Taco Shop: Even though there are over a 100 Fuzzy’s locations across the country (and two in FoCo), you still feel like you’re eating at a local joint when you stop into this Mexican eatery near our Fort Collins apartments. From authentic tacos to smothered burritos, there’s always something new to try at Fuzzy’s. If you’re of age, you have to try their Beeritas – which is exactly what it sounds like. A cold brew flipped upside down into a frozen margarita!
Spoons: Spoons is a local soup, salad, and sandwich place serving up fresh, homemade soups, healthy salads, and savory sandwiches. Their soup menu changes daily, so be sure to check it before you head over there if you’re craving something specific. With tasty soups like Southwest Chicken Tortilla, Thai Curry Pork, Tomato Zucchini, and of course one of their staples, Mom’s Chicken Vegetable, Spoons is a great place to grab a quick lunch. They also offer a range of dairy- and gluten-free soups, as well as vegetarian options. And their freshly-made focaccia bread is to die for.
Jim’s Wings: This Campus West staple has been around for almost 30 years and is arguably the best wing joint in town. Jim’s Wings is a perfect place to catch a game with your buddies or bring the family for an easy dinner. Their prices aren’t bad either! Your best bet is to grab a friend and enjoy their daily special of 25 wings, fries, and a pitcher of beer for less than $25.
