If you’re moving into your first apartment or just feel like your last apartment didn’t ever feel like home, we’ve got a solution. In today’s blog, Stone Creek Apartments, your Fort Collins apartment homes, is offering up a list of ten must-have items for your new apartment. Keep reading to learn more!
A Couch: You will likely spend a lot of time in your living room, so having a place to sit is essential. If a couch won’t give you enough room, add a big bean bag or some accent chairs. Also, consider choosing an ottoman in lieu of a coffee table for extra sitting room.
Bedroom Supplies: You will obviously need a bed, a mattress, sheets, blankets, a bedspread, and pillows. Depending on how much stuff you’re bringing, you might also want a dresser, a bookshelf, or other storage solutions.
A TV: Whether you opt for cable or simply hook up a casting device to stream Netflix and Hulu, you will likely find yourself in want of a television sooner rather than later.
Decor: Make your space unique with a colorful shower curtain, houseplants, posters, decorative pillows, rugs, candles, and whatever else you can think of. Just make sure you’re hanging up items with paint-friendly options like Command Hooks.
Cookware: Our Fort Collins apartments come with a full kitchen that has all of the appliances you need to cook a great meal, but you will still need some kitchen essentials. A toaster, some pots and pans in various sizes, a couple of cookie sheets, a spatula, some big serving spoons, and some kitchen tongs should get you started. After that, consider additional items such as a blender, a hand mixer, mixing bowls, baking dishes, a whisk, some Tupperware containers, and a coffee maker. You should be able to figure out what you need as time goes on.
Dishes: You could eat off of paper plates and use plastic cutlery forever, but why do that when you can just invest in some dishware? Start with a set that includes at least four of everything (big plates, small plates, bowls, glasses, forks, knives, and spoons), then build your collection from there.
Basic Tools: If you ever have a true need for maintenance, we’ll take care of that for you. But you might find yourself needing to put together a dresser or unscrew a game console. Have a hammer, some small nails, and a screwdriver at the very least. To save space, we recommend getting a toolkit that includes a screwdriver handle with interchangeable tips so you always have the size and type you need.
Cleaning Supplies: You will want to have, at the very least, a vacuum, a mop (or a Swiffer), a toilet bowl brush and cleaner, laundry detergent, sponges, dish scrubbers and dish soap, some paper towels, and a surface cleaner for the bathroom and for the kitchen.
Toilet Paper: You do not want to be the person who gets all ready for your first night in your new apartment and realize too late that you didn’t buy any toilet paper.
Hangers: So many people forget to bring hangers! We offer spacious closets in our apartment units, but you’ll still need a way to hang your clothes! Pro Tip: Target and Walmart have awesome sales on hangers in August as new CSU students are moving in!
