One of the things we love most about Stone Creek Apartments is the wonderful location. Not only are we centrally located in Fort Collins, but Fort Collins itself is one of the most lively cities in Colorado. There is always something to do in Fort Collins, and if there isn’t, then Denver is only a short drive away. The holiday season is upon us, which means there will be even more fun events happening. In today’s blog, your Fort Collins apartments will be offering up some fun holiday-themed events going on within driving distance of Stone Creek!
The Garden Of Lights is touted as one of Fort Collins’ best holiday traditions. Happening at the Gardens on Spring Creek, this event turns Fort Collins botanical gardens into a sea of twinkling lights. The lights are arranged in beautiful formations to create giant flowers, dinosaurs, and more. Most evenings will feature entertainment such as live music or theatrical performance, and of course, Santa will make a few appearances as well. The Gardens are just a couple minutes away from your Fort Collins apartments and tickets are free (though there is a suggested donation of just $5), making this a perfect event to attend on a quiet night.
If you want to skip the cold and see a theatrical performance instead, the Lincoln Center is presenting The Nutcracker this winter! This event is put on by the Canyon Concert Ballet and is accompanied by the Fort Collins Symphony Orchestra. It is sure to impress with immaculate ballet performances, live music, fantastic sets, and historical costumes.
This event is a little further away from our Fort Collins apartments but well worth the drive! Coloradans come from all over the state to see the Zoo Lights, an event that has been happening for nearly three decades. The zoo lights up with over two million LED lights spread across 70 acres. Not only is it one of the most beautiful sights to see, but you will also have the opportunity to see some of your favorite animals!
For one day only, you can catch a group of 90 tuba players in Old Town Fort Collins bumping out your favorite Christmas carols and holiday music. This event happens on December 8th and is free to the public!
While you’re in Denver, stop by the annual Christkindl Market, an authentic German Christmas market full of German cuisine, hot beverages, handmade jewelry, and artisan gifts. There is also plenty of live entertainment for the whole family. The Christkind is the traditional Christmas gift-bringer in some parts of Germany and Europe and is recognizable by her white gown, golden hair, and crown. And while you’ll get the chance to meet The Christkind at the market, good ol’ Saint Nicholas will be there too!
Enjoy The Lights In Old Town
Old Town Fort Collins becomes a winter wonderland every year as the region lights up with thousands of LED holiday lights! We recommend heading over on a snowy night as the streets will be emptier and you can really enjoy looking at the beautiful lights.
Here at our Fort Collins apartments, we host a lot of out-of-state students who will be flying home to spend the holidays with their families. If you find yourself heading from Stone Creek to the Denver International Airport, be sure to leave a few hours early. No, it’s not because of traffic or long TSA lines — though that’s certainly part of it! You’ll want to leave early because DIA offers a free ice skating rink! Considering that you rarely hear the words “free” and “airport” together, that’s something pretty special. Perhaps it’s a holiday miracle?
We promise this will be the last time we make you drive to Denver for holiday events, but this one is just too good to skip! (Plus, our conveniently located apartments give you easy access to the freeway — just hop on Prospect and you’ll be there in no-time!) The Blossoms Of Light event at the Denver Botanic Gardens features interactive light displays and sound-reactive animated LED lights as well as seasonal carolers, holiday treats and hot drinks for purchase.
