Labor Day is this weekend! That means most of you will enjoy a three-day weekend with no work or school on Monday, September 2. If that’s the case, you might be wondering how to spend the weekend that is dedicated to capitalizing on the warm summer weather while it still lasts. Thankfully, the team at Stone Creek, your Fort Collins apartment complex, has a few ideas! Read on to learn how you can get the most out of the upcoming three-day weekend.

Celebrate Labor Day In Fort Collins

Get To The Mountains

Thankfully, our apartments in Fort Collins are just a few miles from some of the best hiking and rock climbing areas. Head up to Horsetooth Falls or Horsetooth Rock for an enlightening hike with great views of the town. We suggest hitting the trail early in the morning to avoid crowds.

Check Out Tour De Fat

Tour de Fat is New Belgium Brewing’s annual ode to bicycles and beer. Taking place on August 31 this year, Tour de Fat is sure to be a spectacle as usual. Complete with live music, great food, dance competitions, and more, there’s a little something for everyone at Tour de Fat. Put on your favorite wacky costume, grab your bike, and head to New Belgium. If you want to take part in the bike parade, be at Mountain Avenue and Howes Street at 9am to register.

Take A Weekend Trip

Who said weekend trips only have to last two days? Take advantage of the full three days by going on a little getaway. Whether you want to go visit your friend in the Springs for a few days, spend a few days in a cabin in the mountains, camp out under the stars, or even hop on a plane to a far-off destination, this weekend is the perfect time to do it.

Watch The Rocky Mountain Showdown

Colorado’s biggest college football event, the Rocky Mountain Showdown pits long-time rivals against each other. Get your tickets and head to Mile High Stadium in Denver to watch the Colorado Buffaloes take on the Colorado State Rams.

This will be the 91st Showdown between the two teams and is sure to be exciting. This is set to be the final game at Broncos Stadium, as 2020 marks when the games will begin taking place at CSU’s new stadium on campus.

Hit Up The Windsor Harvest Festival

This year will mark the 98th annual Windsor Harvest Festival, a family-friendly kick-off to autumn that includes a parade, hot air balloons, live music, fireworks, home and garden shows, arts and crafts, and much more. You won’t want to miss this fun event that runs the entirety of Labor Day Weekend.

See A Movie At The Drive-In

The Holiday Twin Drive-In on Overland Trail is going to be closing for the season soon, so make sure you get there for a movie this weekend! The two screens both show a double-feature, with one typically showing family-friendly movies while the other shows movies geared toward older teens or adults. Whichever you choose, be sure to get there early for a good spot and support the theater by purchasing food at the snack bar.

Spend Time In Water

From the Poudre River to Horsetooth Reservoir to the pool at our Fort Collins apartments, take advantage of the end of summer by getting in the water this weekend. Make sure to wear plenty of sunscreen, stay hydrated, and most of all, have fun!
