Fort Collins is renowned for its breweries. Some of the most noteworthy include New Belgium, Odell, and Funkwerks. Smaller and lesser-known breweries worth trying include Gilded Goat, Horse and Dragon, Maxline, Equinox, Zwei, and Snowbank. There are currently over 20 breweries in Fort Collins with many more on the way.
It’s One Of The Most Bike-Friendly Cities
Fort Collins boasts over 285 miles of dirt and paved biking trails that will get you pretty much anywhere in the city. In fact, Fort Collins just won the number one spot in People For Bike’s Best Cities For Cycling. Our neighbor, Boulder, came in third place this year, including ranking the highest for cyclist safety.
Hiking? Water Skiing? Regular Skiing? We’ve Got It All
Fort Collins is located right in the middle of the action when it comes to outdoor activities and sports. Horsetooth Reservoir is the perfect place for everything from water skiing to stand-up paddle boarding. The Poudre River is ideal for tubing and white water rafting. And hiking up to Horsetooth Rock is a must for anyone who visits the city.
It’s So Good, Disneyland Copied It
For real. One of the most interesting facts about Fort Collins is that it was the inspiration for Main Street, USA in Disneyland. Harper Goff, who designed Main Street alongside Disney, was a Fort Collins native. In an interview, Goff says, “Yeah, I was born in that little town… Fort Collins, Colorado… When I started working on Main Street, I had photographs of Fort Collins taken. I showed them to Walt and he liked them very much. Disneyland’s City Hall is copied from Fort Collins… so was the bank building and some of the others.” So, there you have it. If Fort Collins is good enough for Walt Disney, then surely it must be a magical place to live.
Fort Collins is known for amazing food and an even better food truck scene. Whether you’re hitting up the Fort Collins Food Truck Rally (just down the road from Stone Creek Apartment Homes) or trying one of the local restaurants in Old Town, there is no shortage of local eats. In fact, FoCo has one of the highest rates of restaurants per capita of the entire country. Local favorite eateries include Lucille’s, Big City Burrito, Beau Jo’s, Coopersmith’s, Silver Grill Cafe (those cinnamon rolls are to die for), and Jax Fish House.
It’s Home To Colorado State University
Colorado State University, most often called simply ‘CSU’, has been ranked as a top public university by a number of publications, including the Princeton Review, Business Week, the U.S. News & World Report. CSU is an especially good choice for those interested in agriculture and veterinary medicine. Not only is this school great for academics, it is also one of the most beautiful campuses in the nation (in our humble opinion, at least). With a handful of new, beautifully-crafted structures popping up on campus, the star is the new Sonny Lubick Field at Canvas Stadium, a state-of-the-art 220-million dollar football stadium and home of the CSU Rams.
It’s Won A Ton Of Awards
Fort Collins is not short on awards and recognitions. This should come as no surprise if you’ve read up to this point.
