For anyone who has ever fallen in love, out of love or been surprised by love, it’s a moment we may not be able to describe, but we can recognize it when we see it. And that’s why audiences relate to John Cariani’s artfully written Almost, Maine.

Now Bas Bleu Theatre has brought Cariani’s depiction of small town Maine to the Fort Collins stage for a holiday season run, November 19-December 30. It’s a thoughtful treatment that allows theatregoers to embrace “ordinary characters who are experiencing the extraordinary,” according to director Dulcie Willis.

Once called “a comic, romantic roundelay” by The Wall Street Journal (which also named it one of the best regional theater productions in 2005) Almost, Maine features a sequence of vignettes that occur on a single winter night amidst the northern lights. It has become a national sensation—performed by more than 600 theater companies in the U.S. and Canada—and was the most-performed play in the U.S. in 2010. Move over, Our Town.
